Legendary WWE and AEW Commentator Jim Ross Undergoes Cancer Surgery; Thanks Fans for Their Support

Pro wrestling has a great deal of moving parts that make it special. A great commentary booth forms as its crowning jewel. The voice behind the announcer’s table adds to the overall intensity of any match, setting it on a perfect note. But for the last few months, fans have been starved of the most legendary voice of the sport, Jim Ross, as he was out due to health issues. Now, it seems the veteran might eye a return to the foray soon after he unveiled a positive health update.

“All went well” Jim Ross’s cancer surgery update uplifts the wrestling fraternity

Jim Ross has been battling cancer for a while now and just underwent extensive surgery. The good news is that the legend is doing well now. The 72-year-old took to social media this evening to let us know how he’s doing currently following surgery on his right hip. He noted that “All went well” and thanked fans for their unshakable support throughout.

WWE‘s dearest JR Ross is currently engaged in his AEW stint. However, his recurring health issues got the better of him, prompting him to take multiple time offs within a year.

To talk about his status in AEW, he noted on his podcast a month back that his contract will end this Valentine’s Day. However, he also expressed his desire to continue with Khan’s promotion in the future.

However, no one will want the pro wrestling legend to rush himself at the cost of his health. The former WWE commentator has engaged in a tough battle against cancer. But how did it all begin?

Jim Ross has fought a tough and long battle against skin cancer

Ross has etched his name as one of the most defining voices of pro wrestling throughout his illustrated career. He has dipped his feet in WWE, WCW, AEW, Mid-South Wrestling, and more. Despite earning insurmountable fame as a WWE mouthpiece, the gifted commentator jumped ship to the AEW commentary team ever since it came into existence in 2019. Moreover, he also served as a senior advisor for the company. That said, his time in AEW has mostly been affected due to a fatal skin cancer treatment.

Ross conveyed to the wrestling faithful about his arduous battle with skin cancer in 2021. This would be his second innings in battling this grave disease as he was diagnosed with the same in 2016. However, shortly after, in 2021, he bounced back, announcing he was cancer-free following a series of radiation sessions.

Despite undergoing remission, the iconic commentator suffered severe damage to his leg. In fact, he has to continue undergoing treatment to not worsen the condition. Moreover, unfortunately, the cancer returned, and he had to resort to means to prolong his healing from the disease. Given the current condition of his surgery, we wish the legend a speedy and complete recovery.
