Most of the WWE Universe was left heartbroken when Cody Rhodes fell short to win the coveted  Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title at WrestleMania 39. Fans were left disappointed after the outcome and even Triple H’s post-match formal justification wasn’t enough for fans to calm down. But now it seems like someone belonging to Rhodes’ closest circle felt the reverse regarding WWE’s booking.

Cody Rhodes instantly became a sensation after he returned to WWE last year. The former AEW star got a push from the company to compete for the most coveted title. WWE hyped the storyline regarding Cody Rhodes’ mission to fulfill his father’s unaccomplished dream. However, lastly, it all came out hollow. With that being said, Cody’s half-brother, Dustin Rhodes, started to see the good part of it.

The legendary Dusty Rhodes’ blood runs in both of the brothers’ veins. So, it’s fairly obvious that Dustin was equally invested in Cody’s mission to complete their late father’s incomplete legacy. But the AEW wrestler lately accepted his brother’s loss against Roman Reigns for good reasons.

Recently speaking to Busted Open Radio, the former WWE star noted, ”It was a little frustrating when he didn’t win, but then at the same time, business-wise, everybody in the world thought he was going to win that thing, but when you look it a week later, or whatever, you kind of analyze it, see what they’re doing with Brock right now, it makes sense,”

Despite possessing a little non-harmful jealousy for Cody’s skyrocketing success, Dustin Rhodes sounds pretty confident about Cody Rhodes’ eventual title win someday or the other. He feels WWE just wants to chisel the best out of him. Articulating his thoughts in words, Dustin continued, ”He’s [Cody Rhodes] going to be world champion, I know it. I don’t know when, but he’s going to be the world champion. So keep doing it man, they’re making him pay for it. They’re making him earn it, and I like that.”

After a devastating WrestleMania loss, Cody Rhodes demanded a rematch with the Tribal Chief at the Raw after the WrestleMania episode. But his demand ended with him being backstabbed by Brock Lesnar, who initially teased to be his tag team partner against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa duo.

That unexpected turn of events once again stirred the WWE Universe, creating new speculation about WWE building something big for Cody and Lesnar. As the storyline furthered, the last week’s Raw episode saw Rhodes hitting the ring and calling Lesner down to the ring, demanding a match against him at the upcoming Backlash Premium Live Event in Puerto Rico. Rhodes finally managed to get his wish fulfilled, and the much anticipated Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar feud is now officially set for the WWE Backlash 2023.
