One of the biggest names to lace up the boots in the NBA locker room, Shaquille O’Neal, is also one of the richest among his peers; not only his own peers, but many WWE wrestlers. Coming to the biggest sports entertainment industry, Shaq has met many of them. But their individual money doesn’t come close to his almost 20 years’ worth of career.

It was not only his 7′ frame and basketball ability that earned him $400 million as of today, but a lot of other things. To give you an outlook, the man earned around $292 million from his NBA salary alone, with $27 million being the highest in a year.

The source of the huge net worth of Shaquille O’Neal

How did Shaq’s $400 million wealth come to be? While he was the Rookie of the Year in 1993, his salary at Orlando Magic was nothing compared to his second team, the LA Lakers. Signing a $121 million deal would prove substantial, as they would remember Shaq as vital for taking the team to the next level. But the NBA legend would switch teams again, this time moving to Miami Heat with a $100 million deal signed.

After this, the big man would swing team to team, earning around $62 million until he retired in 2011. During this time, Shaq would also do many endorsements which would earn him $200 million over the years. Not to mention the guy makes almost $60 million every year, adding to his already big stack.

Compared to the folks at WWE, not many superstars many this amount of money. Even if we talk about the older generation, people who have moved on and become megastars like John Cena don’t match up. The Champ only stacks around $80 million currently and that is 1/5th of the big guy’s total. But there are contenders who not only compare to Shaq’s stack but make him look pathetically small.

Comparing Shaq’s stack with the empire of Dwayne Johnson

Counting the Rock‘s wealth will take us all night, but just to give you a spoiler, the total is $800 million, double that of Shaq’s. Starting from only seven bucks in his pocket, the former WWE Champion worked in the WWE for 8 years. His acting career started in 2001 and his first feature in a movie was Scorpion King, 2002.

To give you a timeline, his net worth in 2009 was $30 million, and just two years later, he reached the $50 million mark. In 2012, he became the richest wrestler, clocking in at $75 million. Also, like Conor McGregor, he owns Teremana Tequila and a sports energy drink Zoa which is becoming a rising success.

Fast forward to 2019, the man through his movies and endorsement deals, and other ventures had earned an unbelievable $320 million. Not to mention that a year ago, he topped the list of highest-paid actors by earning $125 million in a year.

Measuring Shaq’s stack to the Vince McMahon kingdom

Talking about the former boss, Vince McMahon, Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t even compare. But to be fair, McMahon has been in the wrestling business for 50 years. The $1.8 billion that McMahon has is a testament to his hard work and dedication to building WWE. While he has retired as of 2022, the man who started it all holds 37% of WWE’s outstanding shares.

In 2019, these shares amounted to a whopping $2.7 6billion. In addition to that, the man owned XFL at one point, for which he had to sell 3.34 million shares in 2017. Again, in 2019, he sold more of his shares, this time at the peak of the WWE share, earning him $272 million in one fell swoop.

It is fascinating to see that even WWE legends like The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar don’t earn near Shaq. But a megastar like The Rock dwarves the giant, and there’s no comparison when it comes to the former head boss.
