He said“At WrestleMania 25 when I did my counts on Taker after the dive. That count was a shoot count. The only instruction I ever got out of that match was from Taker. He said, ‘If I don’t get back in, you shoot count me out.’ And we came very, very close to counting him out.”

“But if you go back and look at that, I was drawing my counts out. And I was drawing 74,000 people in with my counts,” Elias added.

At one point during the match, Taker dived from inside the ring to put his body across Shawn Michaels. However, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ was wise enough not to take the nasty bump and pulled a cameraman in between. Unfortunately, this was when referee Marty Elias found himself in trouble because he took his time for a count-out.

Former WWE referee Elias Marty did a splendid job in keeping the streak alive!

The Undertaker bumped hard to the ground when Michaels saved himself and threw a cameraman under the bus. In this attempt, Michaels also pushed Marty Elias by the barricades, which hurt him a little. However, Marty Elias knew what it meant by the legendary Undertaker streak.

So, the former WWE referee improvised and made a slow and elongated count. It was the most intense moment at WrestleMania 25 because Taker could not stand after his dive.

“But at the same time, I was still dramatizing it, and I was elongating that count. So I was getting the people behind me. I was looking at Taker, and Taker and I didn’t make eye contact until nine (of the 10 counts). So that streak almost ended at WrestleMania 25 on a count-out,” Marty Elias continued.

According to the former WWE referee, Taker suffered a concussion and broke his ring finger and collarbone because of his dive off the top rope. But luckily, The Undertaker made himself inside the ring at the 9th count. Marty Elias improvised the count-out in such a spectacular manner.
