Fans around the world were eagerly waiting for 18th August 2023 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most adored superstars in the WWE. His style, charisma, and in-ring athleticism have not only mesmerized fans but also the upcoming generation of wrestlers. We are talking about the ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge who completed 25 glorious years in the WWE.

And what better place to have this celebration than his hometown of Toronto, Canada? And fans definitely didn’t disappoint as this SmackDown broke a long-standing record in Toronto.

Packing a stadium with roaring fans is always the onus of the performer. And getting an arena completely sold out for an event only goes to show how popular that performer really is.

And that’s exactly the case with ‘The Rated R Superstar’ who was in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario for his 25th-anniversary celebration. Edge made his debut on 22nd June 1998 at Madison Square Garden on RAW. To celebrate this, fans came in from all corners of the globe to witness their wrestling God unleash chaos in the ring that night. The show also had emotional messages thanking Edge from superstars like John Cena, The Miz, Charlotte Flair, and Sami Zayn to name a few.

And as expected, it was a sold-out event at the Scotiabank Arena having a capacity of 19,800. WWE is quite used to having a complete sell-out for most of its events. But this show was the highest-grossing Raw/Smackdown in Toronto’s history as reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com.

The main event for the night was Edge wrestling his good friend Sheamus in a First Time Ever match. Fans were sitting on the edge of their seats to witness this encounter. And the two wrestling heavyweights didn’t disappoint their fans as they put on a stellar performance. The match seemed pretty close but Edge sealed a win by pinning Sheamus after a thunderous spear.

But as the night ended, fans wanted to know what decision Edge was going to take regarding his career.

Post his epic match with Sheamus, he addressed the crowd about his future with the WWE. He said, “I don’t know what the future holds, I really don’t. I got to sit home this week, lick my wounds, talk to my family and see what they want. But what I can say Toronto is Thankyou!”
