Wrestling history is filled with many memorable moments. The iconic image of WWE legend Hulk Hogan body slamming André the Giant is still fresh among fans.

Not only was it the end of the Giant’s 15-year winning streak, but the occasion also marked a change of guard in the company.

Hogan captured the imagination of fans by performing this superhuman streak. The WWE legend once revealed how the Giant sacrificed for the promotion’s benefit.

WrestleMania III marked that historic night which will forever be etched in fans’ minds. The “Eighth Wonder of The World” had never been manhandled the way Hogan managed to.

In an interview with HDNet in the past, he spilled the beans on how the iconic moment came about.

Hulk Hogan recalls that historic night

He said,”When I tried to pick him up in the beginning, he sat down on me, making me fall backwards with him and so I kind of like forgot about it. Then half way through the match, under his voice he goes “Slaaam”, I go ‘what’, he yelled at me again, you know ‘slam’ and I and he came towards me and I got underneath him.”

“I didn’t get him way up here, but when I got him to here, I didn’t think I’d turn him, I just said to hell with it and when I turn him it’s, you know, tore my back and tore my bicep and tore delt in three places but I turned him over. He didn’t have to do that. I mean he did that for the wrestling business to basically give me enough gas in my tank to help me carry on, so he did something that was very unselfish and he taught me a lot about, you know, passing the torch.” finished the immortal one.

Needless to say, Hogan benefited greatly from the moment and went on to leave a lasting impression during his career. The instance pushed the legend as a certified superstar and also helped him get over with the fans.

After a very successful time in the WWE, he also dazzled in the WCW in the 90s. He got back to the WWE in the early 2000s and competed against the likes of The Rock and Brock Lesnar.

The Hulksters’ timeless feuds with The Iron Sheik are still remembered by fans and wrestling purists alike. So much so that Sheik, even today, does not miss any opportunity to taunt Hogan on social media. He never let any opportunity pass by for criticizing the WWE great.
