Paul Heyman Reveals That His Mother Was Not Proud of Him for Being Famous Until One Special Moment: “She Was Dramatically Disappointed”

Fans often assume that after a star gains fame and success, their parents are going to be proud of them, regardless. However, Paul Heyman‘s story goes a tad bit different from this. In a recent interview, Heyman revealed that his mother did not think much of him as an accomplished person. Despite Heyman’s appearances on national and international television, Sulamita Heyman, Paul’s mother, wasn’t proud of him.

In the podcast, Heyman also revealed that his mother was “dramatically disappointed” in him. However, one moment in The Wise Man’s life changed his mother’s perspective of him. This one event was more personal rather than professional.

What changed Paul Heyman’s mother’s thoughts on him?

Heyman appeared on The Moment with Brian Koppelman podcast to talk about several things. He his host about his family and he couldn’t help but recall this one detail about his relationship with his mother. Sulamita Heyman was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer in 2008. When the manager was telling the host about the latter came up with an intriguing question, “So, uh, she did see you become famous?” Heyman’s reply to this was even more interesting.

“She was dramatically disappointed in me until she saw me as a father. That was the respect that I got from my mother in my life. Once she saw me as a father… infinitely proud of me. Loved watching me as a father. Couldn’t stand watching me do anything else in life,” said the wrestling manager.

Even though his kids are what changed his perception in his mother’s eyes, Heyman still hasn’t revealed much about them to the general public.

Paul is a father to two children. The Wise Man welcomed his daughter Azalea Heyman in 2002.

Two years later, in 2004, Azalea was joined by her younger brother Jacob Heyman. So, although Heyman’s mother wasn’t proud of him for being a television and sports entertainment star, she finally found a reason to respect him.
