The ongoing run of John Cena has been a grand spectacle ever since the ‘GOAT’ to a break from the film industry. The veteran then indulged in a storyline with brothers Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa and was even left in deep waters because both heels wasted little time assaulting his former tag team partner AJ Styles, which left Cena in search of a new companion.

LA Knight then turned out to be his next partner after The Megastar saved Cena from the brutal attack of both brothers on an episode of SmackDown.

LA Knight was gaining popularity even before being an integral part of the storyline and his alliance with Cena enhanced his stature even more. At Fastlane Knight pinned Jimmy after delivering the BFT. For WWE, allowing Knight to get the final pinfall ahead of Cena shows their faith in him.

Also, by helping his team gain victory over Roman Reigns’ faction, he might have laid the groundwork for the biggest storyline in his wrestling career, and that could be set for Crown Jewel.

John Cena hinted at LA Knight as the prospective foe for Roman Reigns

This episode of SmackDown was more like the beginning of an epic saga for the fans. Marking the grand return of The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, the episode had a lot to reveal, especially concerning the future of LA Knight for Crown Jewel. The show began with the Leader of Cenation welcoming the Tulsa crowd to SmackDown’s season premiere; however, he got cut off by the arrival of Reigns on the show.

With the command on the microphone, Reigns threw shades on Cena, further questioning the GOAT status of the veteran. Ending the conversation, he ordered Cena to leave, or else they would make him leave the squared circle.

Cena, on the other hand, didn’t seem intimidated and hailed Reigns for his 1100+-day run as a champion. In fact, the 46-year-old revealed that he was not here to challenge Reigns, but someone else was. This led to LA Knight making his way to the ring. Though the segment further became gripping, the moment when Cena introduced Knight as Reigns’ next adversary stole the spotlight and made things even more certain.

The initial segment of SmackDown might have sealed the deal for LA Knight. In fact, Reigns spearing Knight eventually out of his boots after the main event could have raised the certainty even more. However, Knight’s in-ring charm would endure intense scrutiny throughout the prospective storyline. One must also not forget that his popularity has helped Knight top the rankings of WWE’s best merchandise sellers in September.
