There can be multiple reasons for Triple H to make his return to WWE and the ring on such short notice. First off, the bad news surrounding Drew McIntyre‘s positive COVID-19 test foiled WWE’s pre-determined plans. Reports state that along with him, several other superstars have also tested positive for the virus.
There were several notable absentees from Raw, but we can’t attribute all to COVID-19. To make up for the absentees, Triple H might’ve had to step up and deliver.

Their rivalry was one of the best and most intriguing of 2020, and their match would have been nothing short of superb.

He might be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Randy has officially entered the match, and if not the Fiend, the Game is definitely going to cost him the chance to head to WrestleMania. If not Orton, the Game might look to face some younger talent and elevate them. We saw Keith Lee interact with Triple H backstage, and that is a match we would love to see.
Is Triple H working a retirement angle?
The last two opponents the Cerebral Assassin faced on live television were Batista and Randy Orton. They were two of his mentees during the Ruthless Aggression days when Evolution ruled Raw. Could this be a pattern which leads to an eventual retirement match against someone iconic?
