WWE is known to have many on and off-screen competitions. When you’re hungry to get the best and win matches then a rivalry is no biggie, unless the rivalry in the ring goes outside. Hence such is the rivalry between Dwayne Johnson and the current Head of Creatives. Since the attitude era, they have been in rivalry outside the ring and both the wrestlers never liked each other.

Now after Dwayne Johnson has made a return again there is beef between the two. Triple H being the creative head had the upper hand but when The Rock became the Board of Directors for TKO Groups things have not been smooth. Hence now in a recent interview, Jim Cornette discusses how the feud is not just limited to wrestling anymore and is more about power.

Talking to Brian Christopher Lawler in the Official Jim Cornette podcast, Cornette opens up about the power feud between the two legends. Dwayne Johnson became the Board of Directors in January and made a return to WWE. He first called out his Samoan cousin for a match, stealing Cody Rhodes‘s spotlight.

This was not okay with Triple H as he was not aware of this. Finally, things took a bad turn in the WM 40 kickoff event when The Rock turned heel-slapping Rhodes.

“The Rock, and Triple H. Not in a just a promo, just a, not a rivalry but an, an animosity between them. In terms of a struggle for power involving other Main Event people that will elevate this thing to the stratosphere,” said Cornette. He emphasized their feud as now Dwayne Johnson is Triple H’s head. Due to this Triple H possibly fails to have a final say as he used to before.

Even after this he regained his power and made sure that Rhodes would be the one to fight The Tribal Chief. “And that’s just the Triple H option, there are other options who can come out there and shut down the Rock somehow. As the group of baby faces gets together to top baby faces cause they feel like top baby faces, whatever,” continued Cornette.

He suggests alternative strategies to counter The Rock, implying that other babyfaces could join forces. Triple H had promise of a WWE title shot to Cody Rhodes last year. But, The Rock’s sudden involvement had raised issues. Even Superstar Ryback hinted at the possibility of Triple H being fired.

Reports indicate that Johnson had finalized plans for a WrestleMania match against Reigns in January, potentially sidelining Rhodes. Speculations now point to a power struggle between the two, given their history of conflict. But what was their rivalry about?

Triple H’s WWE career has often seen him cast as a heel, with personal animosity developing towards stars like Johnson after the infamous Curtain Call incident. During The Rock’s successful Intercontinental Championship reign, Triple H sought to dethrone him. He even attempted to influence others to defeat him.

Bret Hart denied this and wrote in his book ‘Hitman’ regarding this. Now, as Johnson returns to WWE as a TKO board member, we anticipate tensions to resurface between the two.
