He started wrestling almost two decades ago. And he never prioritized money as the primary motive. His hunger for wrestling is a product of passion and passion alone. Therefore, his indifference to dollar bills came with a gigantic reward for him in the latter years of his career.

Recently, he sat down for an interview on Whiskey Ginger w/ Andrew Santino 236. During his interview, he mentioned though he enjoys having money, he never cared for it in the very first place.

He confessed that when he joined WWE; he made way less than what he earned from independent circuits. He said, “I think my last year on the independents,I made somewhere around $100,000. I signed my first WWE contract for $39,000. “
But he was okay with earning less because he knew he was getting a golden opportunity to showcase his talent and skills on a bigger platform. He was sure that later in time, the zeros in his paychecks would escalate. Therefore, he joined WWE despite getting paid less in the early days of his career.

If he had been greedy and rejected the less-money offer, then he would not be where he was right now. Therefore, he is enjoying the fruits of his decision-making. Plus, he also gave a reason why money never concerned him. He said enjoys wrestling, so money was never on his mind.

He added, “When you enjoy what you do, you never work a day in your life. Money is not why I do it. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy having it versus not having it.” Also, his non-greedy attitude towards life reflects from the fact that he still rides a 2004 Nissan Altima.

These days, superstars spend money on expensive items and luxurious cars. But he is not one of them. He loves to live a simple life. Nevertheless, he admits that with each passing year when he makes more money; it makes him happy because it tells him he is improving with time and going in the right direction.
