One of the most heated debates at WWE right now is who will dethrone Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Both the stars have been crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion respectively and have successfully defended their titles on multiple occasions.

While Roman Reigns has been the champion for more than 1100+ days now, Rollins is not far behind. The Visionary has defended his title against many foes for more than 200 days now. Recently in a conversation with Jimmy Traina, he addressed the discussion surrounding the question of who might be the next Heavyweight Champion. However, he decided to fire shots at the current Undisputed Champion of WWE subtly.

Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated Media was in conversation with WWE star Seth Rollins over the weekend. Amongst many things that the two discussed, one topic that popped up was who might take down Roman Reigns in the future. Traina asked whether there are locker room discussions amongst the stars on who might defeat The Tribal Chief in the future, or if the discussion is limited to just fans. Upon being asked this question, the current Heavyweight Champion stated that there is no room for discussion in Reigns’ case. He said that since Reigns has very few television appearances, he believes that it would be a waste of time to go after him.

However, he added that the real conversation is about who will dethrone him from his throne of Heavyweight Champion. He said, “I feel like there’s much more of a real conversation to be had about who’s the guy that’s going to be able to dethrone me.” Rollins then added that if that is ever a conversation, he will always be available, unlike the Head of the Table.

“I take risks that Roman isn’t really taking at the moment.”, said Rollins, as he highlighted the scarce appearances Reigns happens to have in recent times.

The two have been prominent names in the industry as they both have been holding on to major titles for a very long time. But if the two champions are to be compared, Rollins has taken over Roman Reigns in many aspects.

How has Seth Rollins taken over Roman Reigns?

Since Roman Reigns started to have scarce appearances on television, Seth Rollins has garnered massive popularity. The star has been a part of almost ten Premium Live Events in 2023, while Roman Reigns has been in far fewer. It could be safe to say that the Head of the Table has been barely at the table in 2023. According to reports, he was in just 11 matches throughout the year 2023. This does include both SmackDown and PLEs he has appeared in 2023. This is a 79% drop compared to the year 2022, where he appeared in 52 matches.

Apart from that, Rollins was ranked as the number one pro wrestler by Pro Wrestling Insider (PWI) in 2023. The spot that was taken by Roman Reigns back in 2022 is now taken up by Rollins. The list which ranks the stars based on their dependability and the match they put on show believes that Reigns is the second most dependable star of 2023. Apart from that, Rollins is also set to be a part of a Marvel Studios movie in the year 2025. Do you think Roman Reigns having lesser appearances has affected his popularity?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
