Cody Rhodes again seems to be on the verge of suffering a massive setback and the WWE Universe can’t just shut their carps up. After pulling out a polarizing decision by putting the highly hyped-up Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns plan for WrestleMania in the air at last week’s SmackDown, WWE made things worse by pushing Rhodes towards a matchup that puts him in the mid-card scene.

WWE handed Cody Rhodes a mid-card match amidst massive WrestleMania booking controversy

The American Nightmare put himself through a lot in the last few months and carved out a path for himself to complete his story, this time after last year’s unsuccessful title shot at WrestleMania. But the creatives have not opted to take the straightforward and obvious path. To substantiate the claim, you can look at the latest announcement from Adam Pearce that conveys the disappointing spot for Rhodes in the next edition of Raw. A Bull Rope match against the sinister Shinsuke Nakamura is looming next for the former AEW star.

Rhodes and Nakamura had a hot-blooded scuffle in the past few months. Then The American Nightmare took on Nakamura in a Street Fight on the January 8 episode of WWE RAW to wind up the rivalry. But that wasn’t all, even if it seemed so. The Japanese star again retreated, attacking Rhodes at WWE’s live event last night, prompting Raw GM Adam Pearce to set them up in a first-ever televised bull rope match in WWE since 2009.

Quite obviously, it frustrated the fans to the point of venting out all over the internet.

Fans convey their dismay with WWE for derailing Rhodes’ momentum

Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns was always going to be the cynosure for WrestleMania 40 because the two-time Rumble winner has walked a tough path towards “finishing the story.” He has his fans by his side since the very first day as he linked a son’s love and dedication to his late father with his hunger for wrapping the world title in his waist. After being deprived of that privilege last year, Rhodes and his entire fandom were awaiting the biggest push before the closing segment of last week’s Friday night SmackDown.

Fans feel disgusted about how WWE tried to make up their nonsense by bringing up the same old mid-card rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura.

This user at least looked for exposure to the current dynamic and couldn’t care less about another mid-card affair.
