Cody Rhodes is arguably one of the most talked about pro wrestlers in the industry today. He came under direct limelight after returning at WrestleMania 38 last year to face Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. Rhodes would win against Rollins in three consecutive matches, before suffering a pectoral muscle injury.

He would recover from his pectoral tear earlier this year and return at Royal Rumble 2023 to win the event. He faced Roman Reigns at ‘Mania 39 but in a losing effort. Rhodes’ loss at WrestleMania 39 came as a major surprise to many.

Recently, WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed that WWE had made the right decision by having The American Nightmare lose at The Grandest stage of them all. He shared his during an interview with Sports Illustrated.

The 58-year-old claimed that the storyline was built perfectly and nothing was ruined. He would open up to Sports Illustrated, and speak about the finish between The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief, and how he loved it.

WWE legend Steve Austin is one of the most respectable figures in the land of pro wrestling. And his feud with Vince McMahon during the late 90s was a revolutionary moment in the history of the company. However, after the unexpected loss of Rhodes at ‘Mania, The Texas Rattlesnake revealed why it was the best finish coming out of the match.

Speaking to SI, he said, “I loved the finish. I loved all of it. Roman is so good right now.” Austin revealed that the storyline was well-built. However, as per Austin Rhodes should not have won the title. He discussed that while Rhodes should eventually win the title, now is not the time.

He also detailed on why Reigns should have won and claimed, “Cody coming back from injury, coming back into the fold after he left from AEW, and putting himself in the position he’s in now, overcoming all this adversity as part of one of the most famous wrestling families that’s ever been in the business, and trying to finish the story against Roman.”

He further said that the title should be taken off Reigns but not now. Austin said, “You want to get it to Cody somehow, some way, some time — but now’s not the time.” 

Cody Rhodes is currently involved in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar after suffering a major beatdown at his hands. Rhodes is now scheduled to face The Beast Incarnate at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico in a few weeks. After tasting a loss against The Tribal Chief, Rhodes is pitted against The Beast, Brock Lesnar in what will be a marquee match for both stars.
