The relationship between CM Punk and WWE is widely known among fans for its notoriety. Both parties said their goodbyes to each other on a sour note. It can’t be denied that there is still a bit of animosity between the two parties. Punk was not happy with how WWE operated and vice versa.

Recently, an interesting piece of news involving both Punk and WWE has come to light. And the person who shared this information with the fans is none other than the WWE legend Sgt. Slaughter. He recently disclosed that the ‘Second City Savior’ is the one responsible for WWE creating more scripted promos.

During the interview, the WWE legend mentioned how Punk’s use of profanity in his WWE promos lead Vince McMahon to adopt the approach of making the promos scripted. Earlier, WWE used to allow its star to come up with creative promos on their own.

He said, “I was told that CM Punk was using the F-bomb on live television, and Vince got a little upset about that, so he just said, ‘That’s it, no more ad-libbing. We’re gonna script everything so I know what people are saying. I’m gonna lose my sponsors and my TV shows if I don’t.’ So that’s [how] business went in a different direction.”

Since Punk used F-bombs on live tv promos and WWE is a PG product, this could have gotten them in some serious trouble and cost the promotion millions of dollars. Thus, McMahon had to figure out a solution. Also, Slaughter didn’t specifically mention which particular promo forced McMahon to make this decision.

‘The Best in the World’ has a strange inclination for the use of profanity in his promos. This had helped him to become the center of fans’ attention many times. But it has also brought a lot of trouble for him.

The time when Punk’s F-bomb cost him a great deal

You must be aware of the infamous backstage brawl at the post-All-out media scrum in September 2022. One of the main reasons the backstage fight took place was Punk’s heavy use of profanity during the press conference. It really bothered many people to hear him repeatedly use the F-bomb, especially The Elite – the target of his verbal attack.

Punk took several digs at the members of The Elite faction and spoke ill about them for standing up against him for ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. He asked them not to poke their noses and mind their own business. The Elite could digest the insults from Punk and later confronted him backstage.

Thus, his outspoken nature and callous comments resulted in a fight breaking out, which then led to his indefinite suspension. The other party was suspended as well. What do you think of McMahon’s decision to write promos verbatim after Punk’s profanity use on live television? Tell us in the comments below.
