The Undertaker Suffered a Huge Personal Loss Before His Last Match in WWE

The Undertaker wrestled his last match at WrestleMania 36 against AJ Styles. The ‘Boneyard’ match was a cinematic encounter that took place in a cemetery setting. However, just before filming this match, Mark Calaway was hit by tragedy as he suffered a huge personal loss.
Taker said he was returning from the site of the Boneyard match the day before filming began when he received the heartbreaking call.

His niece informed him that her father and his brother, Timothy Calaway is no more.
Undertaker talks about his brother’s death
The Undertaker, known to be a very private person, was emotional while discussing his brother’s untimely passing.
During episode five of his ‘Last Ride’ series on the WWE Network, he said, “It was probably the last ring before it was going to send it to voicemail and I hit it and I said, ‘Hey, What’s going on?’ She goes, ‘My dad’, […] ‘My dad had a heart attack”.

He continued, “I asked her, I said what hospital did they send him to and she said ‘No uncle Mark he’s gone, he didn’t make it”.
Timothy, who was The Undertaker’s elder brother, was 63 at the time of his death. Afterward, Taker had to call his brothers and his mother to inform them of the tragedy.
He also explained how it was hard for him to do the ‘Boneyard’ match the very next day since the match involved ‘burying’ his opponent.

The cinematic encounter against AJ Styles earned plaudits from fans. It was a thoroughly entertaining affair, with WWE Hall of Famer receiving high praise. The match ended with Undertaker winning and riding off on his motorbike.
Given the circumstances in his personal life, it was quite a splendid display by The Undertaker-ever the professional.
Taker is still part of the WWE
Despite his retirement in 2020, The Undertaker is still part of the WWE. The former WWE Champion signed a 15-year-long legends deal with the WWE following his retirement.

He performed his “1 deadMAN SHOW” in Cardiff ahead of the Clash at the Castle event, under the WWE banner.

The company has further announced that he will bring his show to Philadelphia on October 7, a day before the WWE premium live event Extreme Rules.
WWE still views ‘The American Badass’ as a marketable name and will look to utilize his popularity in more projects going forward.
