In the main event of WrestleMania XL, Cody Rhodes ushered in a new era in the WWE by clinching the new Undisputed WWE Champion by defeating Roman Reigns. After this, several superstars competed to become the first challenger at Backlash, with AJ Styles emerging as the chosen one. However, concern and worry have plagued the WWE Universe as they don’t see a legitimate candidate to usurp Rhodes.

One major reason behind the notion could be because the WWE has yet to craft a storyline for his opponents before they can dethrone a mega-star like Cody Rhodes. But what if the WWE wants to build a storyline for Rhodes instead? At least that’s what Ryback thinks as he revealed that the WWE might be planning to turn Cody Rhodes into a heel.

Every new era also signals a new storyline for the top guys, and according to the former Intercontinental champion Ryback, Triple H and Rhodes might be planning for a heel run. He said on his show, “He brought emotion and passion and he’s very intelligent and WWE always knows how to capitalize on this. I guarantee you that he’s probably already thought this through. And him and Hunter and like if they’re going to, I think though that would be the long play for the next year to eventually like you do have him as the the cleancut baby face champion. See if the people slowly start turning on him. And then ride out the merch sales as long as you can. Everything being great and then subtly start putting pieces in there. And let that story start unfolding.”

For now, the Undisputed Universal champion is still a babyface. Nevertheless, AJ Styles aims to change the belt’s occupant as he challenges the former AEW star for the belt. But there is not much buildup into their feud. Moreover, it seems unfathomable that WWE would pull the trigger on The American Nightmare’s title reign this early and let Styles dethrone the champ. On the Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray discussed Cody Rhodes’ reign. He noted the need for WWE to quickly find a superstar who poses a genuine threat to Rhodes in the coming months. Ray mentioned that The Rock could play that role, but he should only defeat the champion if he decides to stay full-time in WWE.

The Final Boss was one of the pillars of the feud between The Bloodline and Cody Rhodes. Rumors even emerged that WWE wanted Johnson and Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41. In a match that would be for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. In addition, Bully Ray also stated that he is now looking forward to seeing what new version of The Rock appears once he returns to WWE. But it seems evident that the company could have big plans for him, and a match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 would be a lucrative opportunity for the company. What do you think? Will we get to see them feud anytime soon? Let us know in the comments.
