One of the dominating forces at WWE is the Judgment Day stable. The heel faction has consistently had their say on all things pertaining to Monday Night Raw. The stable has increased its strength with the addition of two members who joined in official and unofficial capacity. While fans expected JD McDonagh to join the stable, Drew McIntyre joining hands with Rhea Ripley caught everyone off guard. To understand why he marked an allegiance with Ripley, we need to understand the events that led to the same.

When did Drew McIntyre join hands with Rhea Ripley?

Drew McIntyre had challenged Seth Rollins for his title at the Crown Jewel. The Scotsman outlined his desire to go to any extent to defeat the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. McIntyre had grown increasingly frustrated at missed opportunities and stumbles as he reiterated his desperateness. The wrestling legion noticed that the Scottish Warrior turned to his Scottish Psychopath side as he tossed The Visionary around the ring.

The enraged star let loose of himself as he attacked Rollins, particularly targeting his injured lower back on multiple occasions. However, despite his attempts, he could not secure the win and the champion pinned him to retain the title. Following this loss, he expressed his disappointment and made his presence known for only a brief segment on the following episode of Raw.

In a following segment, he was asked about how he felt about his loss at Crown Jewel. Not happy with the question, he decided to leave. The Scotsman returned the next week and fans noticed something was different once again. He apologized to Rollins for his actions and reiterated that he held himself responsible for his losses.

In the very same episode, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso faced off against Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Just when Jey Uso was dealing with Balor outside the ring, Drew McIntyre attacked him. This solidified his stance as a heel, as he had sided with The Judgment Day on that night.

Additionally, he went on to stand right next to Rhea Ripley to mark his obvious collaboration with the heel group. Following this, fans have been asking the real question, why did he decide to side with Judgment Day?

Why did Drew McIntyre join hands with Rhea Ripley and The Judgment Day?

There are a few explanations for this. On an episode of Raw which was aired a few days before Crown Jewel, we saw Rhea Ripley interacting with Drew McIntyre backstage. Ripley was trying to get him on his side but no agreement had been reached. Following his loss at Crown Jewel, McIntyre’s disappointment and agony were on display.

On the same episode where he had turned heel, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce had banned all the members of The Judgment Day from appearing ringside during the fight. After hearing this, The Eradicator said that she would look for a way around this. It might be possible that for the time being, Ripley and McIntyre struck a deal. Ripley was in dire need of someone to help the duo. But it has to be an exchange.

Ripley might have offered something in return to convince McIntyre to form an allegiance with her. McIntyre, on the other hand, had already outlined his frustrations with the faces of the company. He had complained on multiple occasions that there was no one to help him when he fought various other heels to retain his title. This was the motivation in the first place for him to challenge Seth Rollins. It might be possible that Ripley might be providing him with a foolproof plan to tackle Seth Rollins once again.

The fact that he targeted Jey Uso is also telling as the former Bloodline member had played a crucial part in ruining his plans of claiming a championship by beating Roman Reigns at Clash of the Castle in 2022. All these factors could have played a part in convincing the Scottish native to embrace the dark side.

Judgment Day is known for its interruptions in matches and turning the tides in their favor. This in particular might have sealed the deal for McIntyre, as he looks to rely on external forces to fulfill his ambitions. However, how this deal will help him in the future is yet to be seen. What do you think might be the motive behind McIntyre joining Judgment Day?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let’s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
