WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is one of the wrestlers who almost has his entire family in the pro wrestling business. The legacy of the Rhodes family started with Cody’s father, Dusty Rhodes, who had immensely helped bring pro wrestling and WWE to where it is today. However, while The American Dream was a phenomenal superstar, so was his wife and Cody’s mom, Michelle Rubio.

Rubio isn’t a pro wrestler. Nor has she ever worked in official promotional or managerial positions. However, she can easily be called a mighty and strong pillar for the Rhodes family. Cody Rhodes has often talked about his mother’s greatness. But the latest episode of Raw saw him present yet another fact that showcases her strength and bravado.

When Cody Rhodes really introduced his mom to Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson has gone a bit far with his beef against Cody Rhodes. While he initially attacked Rhodes’ fans and called them Cody Crybabies, he later slandered his family too, including his brother and his sister. While The Rock had refrained from talking about his mom, he recently crossed that barrier as well, and Cody addressed it on Raw. 

A tweet on X showed the full promo video of Cody Rhodes on Raw where he said, “Here’s the thing. You were talking about whipping me. A bloody weight belt. Handing it to my mother and normally somebody as powerful as you. She would tremble. She would cower. You don’t know my mom.” Rhodes further mentioned an incident that clearly showed that The Rock wasn’t a threat to her.

Cody Rhodes said, “My mom ain’t scared of nothing. This is the same lady who hopped off her chair at a Willie Nelson concert and beat up an undercover cop. She ain’t afraid of you, Rock.” This incident may not have been documented on the internet, which makes it a thrilling insider story. 

The Rock may have tried to frighten Michelle Rubio. However, Cody Rhodes’ mom has guts of steel. In fact, she has already tried to square off against a WWE Superstar in the past.

When Michelle Rubio wanted a piece of Gunther

Cody Rhodes’ mom was very prominently noticed by the WWE Universe during his rivalry with Brock Lesnar. While it was unsightly for a mother to watch her battered son, she was courageous enough to send Cody to a rematch against Lesnar. In fact, while she kept her cool when facing The Beast Incarnate, she had almost launched herself onto Gunther.

Cody Rhodes recently repeated another Royal Rumble victory in 2024. While Gunther was one of the last four participants this time, he was the final opponent of Rhodes in 2023.

While the reigning Intercontinental Champ lost, he rained hell on Rhodes before his elimination. This visibly angered Michelle Rubio, who almost fought with Gunther backstage. However, she later calmed down and the situation de-escalated.

When Cody Rhodes’ mom became an impromptu medic

The caring mother also showed her resourcefulness after AEW Full Gear 2019, when Rhodes split his skin open above his eye. 

Cody’s sister Teil Rhodes tweeted an image of Rubio stitching the skin of her son and wrote, “Joking aside our Mom is the toughest lady around. She never liked any attention on herself. The best.” Like Teil said, she also helped Dusty Rhodes a lot without ever yearning for the spotlight.
