In Survivor series 1991, The Undertaker established his name in WWE history by defeating Hulk Hogan. But the WWE World Championship title he won did not stay with him for even an entire week. Now, let’s have a look at what happened at the end of 1991.

The Undertaker Winning His First WWF Championship Title
During his illustrious career spanning through six WWE eras, Taker has won several titles both on his own and with tag teams. His first WWE World Championship title was a big deal when he thrashed Hulkamania on November 27th, 1991. Especially because Hogan was at the peak of his career and the ‘Deadman’ was only at the dawn with the support of Paul Bearer and Ric Flair.

However, the young Taker turned out to win, dominating the lustrous Hollywood Hogan with his physique and a tombstone pile driver. Moreover, there was a controversy associated with the tombstone move when Hogan claimed ‘The Phenom’ that his neck got hurt by it. In an interview with ESPN, the Undertaker opened up about that incident and how it was a fake injury that made him feel bad on that day.

The Reign That Lasted too Little

The famous WWF title reign of the ‘Lord of Darkness’ ended before its one week anniversary. Because of the involvement of Ric Flair, WWE set a rematch. After six days, Taker faced Hogan again at Survivor Series. Eventually, Hulkster recaptured the throne on This Tuesday in Texas. Nevertheless, following the controversial turn of events, WWE cancelled the title and put it for grabs in 1992 Royal Rumble.
Despite the turn of events, The Undertaker won the hearts of the fandom. Further, each bell that suggested the entrance of the ‘Deadman’ made a tremendous impact on the arena. Even though the first WWF title reign did not last long, Taker made an unparalleled legacy of winning 21 consecutive WrestleMania. Additionally, he won another three WWE titles and three heavyweight championships.
