Brock Lesnar has overseen a stellar wrestling career ever since his WWE debut in 2002. The wrestler was billed as the Next Big Thing when he arrived at the squared circle. He was pitted against many top talents of the promotion and came out on top most of the time. He even took out the WWE legend Hulk Hogan, who boasts 24-inches biceps. 

However, according to former WWE official Bruce Prichard, Hogan backed out from having another fight against Brock Lesnar. This was after The Beast Incarnate defeated him in their first encounter. In a recent episode of his ‘Something to Wrestle’ podcast, Prichard gave his thoughts on why Hulk Hogan refused to put Lesnar over twice.

He said, “Well I think more than anything, it was a lot of it, you know, Hulk thinking well god I come back, he has already beaten me once, he destroyed me once and he put me out. So one would think well the only logical thing to do is to come back and Hulk gets his revenge. But you’re talking about the guy that you know we’re looking for the future in Brock and is it realistic for Hulk to come back and beat Brock.” 

Lesnar had dominated Hogan in their only clash in a WWE ring. He left the 12-time World champion bruised after the encounter. Reportedly, there were plans for a rematch at that year’s Survivor Series.

Hulk Hogan refused to put other superstars over

Hogan was not privy to the idea that he should be losing to Lesnar upon his return. As Pritchard further added, “Hulk wasn’t really in favor of that. He didn’t want to do that. He didn’t see that”.

The Hulkster has been notorious in the past for his refusal to put other superstars over. This includes his infamous clash with legend Shawn Michaels at the 2005 SummerSlam. Hogan was not ready to lose to Michaels at the Biggest Party of the Summer that year.

Brock Lesnar dominated several WWE legends, including Kurt Angle and The Undertaker

The ‘Beast Incarnate‘, on the other hand, went on to have a great run with WWE before initially leaving the promotion in 2004. He went face-to-face with top superstars such as Kurt Angle and The Undertaker. Lesnar returned to the WWE ring in 2012 to clash with John Cena in an extreme rules match. The former 2-times All-American champion has had numerous successful stints with WWE since, which continue to date.

The fact that Hulk Hogan wasn’t in favor of losing to the beast on more than one occasion wouldn’t come as a surprise to ardent WWE fans.

The wrestling world is full of folklore regarding The Hulkster’s refusal to put over his colleagues. Brock Lesnar has nevertheless carved out a successful career in every field he has been in and couldn’t care less.
