Tony Khan’s AEW is one of WWE’s largest competitors and over the years has staged itself as a major threat. Several former WWE superstars have left the company to join AEW. Names such as Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, Malakai Black, and Jon Moxley all left WWE to become top names in AEW.

However, Eric Bischoff recently opened up and criticized Tony Khan for forcefully setting up a battle between the two promotions. Bischoff would become extremely vocal about the situation and slammed Khan for his actions.

Eric Bischoff is a wrestling legend known for his work in multiple promotions such as WCW, Impact Wrestling, and WWE. However, he has long retired from the sport, but his insights remain one of the best in the business. Speaking on his podcast, he would openly criticize billionaire and AEW President Tony Khan.

The 67-year-old claimed that Khan was trying to set up a battle between his and Vince McMahon‘s WWE when a feud does not exist. He would label Khan’s actions as childish and as an effort to divide the pro wrestling audience.

Wrestling veteran Eric Bischoff was a major head behind WWE’s tough rivalry with WCW during the late 90s. However, he became extremely critical of Khan for trying to pitch a similar battle with WWE in a distasteful manner.

In his podcast, he revealed, “To be fair, a lot of that tribalism is because of Tony Khan and some of the talents in AEW. They are constantly taking shots at WWE,” Bischoff further added, “When you do that kind of childish chicken sh*t stuff, your audience is going to take sides with you. And you are going to have that tribalism that you are talking about.”

However, he would disclose Khan’s motive for doing so. Bischoff suggested that the AEW president is setting up a battle between the two promotions and effectively dividing the audience.

Bischoff said, “Tony Khan is determined to try to convince the world that he is in a head-to-head battle business-wise with WWE and he’s not. But he wants to believe he is and he wants the audience to believe he is. So, on a consistent basis, Tony is suggesting that there’s this battle between him and WWE.”

WWE is set to host Money in the Bank in London in a few months, while AEW is set to host their All-In live event in London as well. AEW set a record with their show in London, which WWE is yet to break. Despite there being no official rivalry between the two promotions, a survival of the fittest notion is present, compelling each of them to do their best. What do you make of Bischoff’s claims?
