WWE Sees Great Value in 35-year-old Superstar Despite Fallout With Vince McMahon

One of the major topics of discussion in WWE right now is the scenario around Mustafa Ali.
The WWE superstar has been making all the headlines recently even though he hasn’t stepped inside the ring for over three months.
Mustafa Ali requested his WWE release in January 2022. He was reportedly taken off TV following an argument with Vince McMahon over a creative decision.

However, WWE has refused to let Ali leave. And it looks like there is a reason behind this decision.
Fightful Select reported they have learned through WWE sources that the term “value” was used as a reason to not grant Ali his WWE release.
According to Fightful Select, though there is no specific expiry date for Ali’s current WWE contract, the WWE superstar still has over a year left on his WWE contract.
Mustafa Ali’s last match in WWE took place back in October 2021 against Drew McIntyre. Prior to that, he had been involved in a feud with Mansoor and also battled Mansoor at the 2021 WWE Crown Jewel PPV.
But it has been over three months since Ali’s last match in WWE. Fightful Select has been told currently there are no working plans in creative for Ali.

Back in 2016, Ali made his WWE debut in the Cruiserweight division. He impressed several people with his high-flying abilities and looked like a star for the future.
Ali even put up an impressive fight against Cedric Alexander at WrestleMania 34 for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Following his impressive performances, Ali soon became a part of the main roster.

In 2019, Ali was scheduled to compete in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. However, he had to pull out because of an injury.

At WWE Fastlane 2021, Ali competed for the WWE Championship, but failed to win the match. He tried several times but failed to win a championship in WWE. And later on, his WWE career experienced a downfall.
But WWE tried to give Ali another push after revealing him as the leader of ‘Retribution’. But unfortunately, this plan proved to be a failure.
