WWE Star’s Comment About Dwayne Johnson’s WrestleMania 40 Plans Got Him Under Fire From Fans

WWE star Ricochet faced backlash from the  WWE Universe after making a single comment about Johnson’s WrestleMania 40 plans. He made headlines for clapping back at fans amidst the uproar over his comments about Cody Rhodes stepping aside for Dwayne Johnson. With the internet adamant that Rhodes finishes his story, it seems that anyone offering a semblance of support is being targeted by Rhodes fans.

What exactly did Ricochet say about the WrestleMania 40 plan?

Cody Rhodes was initially expected to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40 to complete his story. Everyone knows that after winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble battle on SmackDown, things took an unexpected turn. The replacement for Rhodes, Dwayne Johnson, has sparked an explosive debate amongst fans who believe Rhodes was incorrectly replaced.

In the face of criticism, Twitter user O’Shea Jackson Jr. justified the choice, claiming that The Rock is a good opponent for Reigns because of his reputation in Samoan wrestling. 

Additionally, he justified the choice by emphasizing how important The Rock was in opening doors for The Bloodline and Reigns. It looked like, in agreement, Ricochet added, “Preaching,” which drew ire from supporters who said he wasn’t rooting for Cody Rhodes.

Responding to the backlash, Ricochet shared his honest thoughts, labeling the internet wrestling community as toxic for their reaction to WWE’s choice of Roman Reigns vs. The Rock. As per him, this was all just a misunderstanding and he addressed the situation soon after. 

Ricochet clears the air on his response

WWE teased a fantasy matchup between The Rock and Cody Rhodes in Philadelphia after The Rock’s comeback. The online wrestling community was overwhelmingly supportive of Cody, but it was also critical of The Rock and WWE, voicing angry comments. 

Ricochet, a staunch supporter of Cody Rhodes, voiced his opinion on the situation on social media. He went on to acknowledge the toxic nature of the internet wrestling community. He emphasized his support for Rhodes while highlighting the online harassment he faced for a simple comment on the Roman Reigns and The Rock storyline.

The comment in the talk is the word “Preaching.” However he later tweeted by clearing the air, “I said nothing other than that he was out here Preaching because he was asked a question. To which he took the time to write a very lengthy reply, with crazy detail 😆 to then be wildly harassed! Hahaha, what a world!” The high-flyer responded to several comments, clarifying that he hadn’t actually expressed his opinion on the matter.

In the end, he posted a tweet stating, “#WeWantCody”. Although he also added that The Rock is his favorite he wouldn’t mind him winning too. However many are not aware of the real reason why the storyline changed
