It is reasonable to believe that Hulk Hogan had a significant role in the wrestling industry’s entire change during his three-decade-long career. Losing him was a big concern since, during his career, he was the top superstar of every organization he joined. It is also clear that when he departed; it took WWE years to stand strong and produce the same results. Hulkster was therefore a big thing.

Meanwhile, on the episode of Busted Open legendary promoter Verne Gagne’s son Greg Gagne, showed up on the podcast. He subsequently related an interesting incident about his father and how Verne thought it was a joke when the Immortal One quit the American Wrestling Association.

Hulk Hogan left AWA after receiving significant money from Vince McMahon

Despite the Hulkster’s ascension to the WWE happened much faster, he was already a superstar and WWE required him to become the next best thing in the world of wrestling. Recently, Greg Gagne discussed the day Mr. McMahon took Hogan from the AWA, which at first Verne thought was a joke.

He said in a podcast episode of Busted Open Radio, “Verne got a letter on December 21 from Tampa, Florida. It said I’m not coming back. Signed Hulk Hogan. Verne saw it, and he said, Tampa, Florida, that damn Eddie Graham.’ Eddie and him used to play ribs on each other all the time. So Verne thought it was a rib. And he threw it away. So Christmas night comes, St Paul’s sold out. Hogan doesn’t show up. I called him on the phone, I said, ‘Hey, big man, what are you doing? We’ve got matches down here.’ He says, ‘I’m gonna go with the WWE.”

He stated, “this isn’t the way you do business. I mean, fulfill your agreement with us and make this Christmas week and then go. But you gotta fulfill your commitments. You just walk out on people like that. And he said well Vince is paying me more to stay home. So the rest is history.”

The investment turned out to be profitable
