Gunther will go down in WWE history as one of the best Intercontinental Champions. With his first title reign breaking The Honky Tonk Man’s record of 454 days as Champion, he has proven his place in the WWE. Match after match, Gunther has established himself as a formidable foe for anyone who sets foot in the ring with him. However, things got out of control when Gunther initiated celebrations for his historic title reign on a recent episode of RAW.

A simple celebration of his reign as the longest-running Intercontinental Champion got cut short. All hell broke loose for Gunther after an unwanted guest showed up to the party.

Chad Gable interrupts Gunther and pays the price

The recent episode of Monday Night RAW saw Gunther celebrate his long reign as the Intercontinental World Heavyweight Champion. He was also basking in the glory of successfully defending his title against Chad Gable the week before. Unfortunately, the celebration ended abruptly when Gable came out to confront Gunther.

Gable and Gunther have been going at in recent times. Gable has set his eyes on ending Gunther’s reign and taking the title. However, Gunther has been successful in defending his title till now. The former NXT champion confronted Gunther post their match last week that saw Gable’s children in the crowd. Taking this opportunity, Gunther insulted Gable for bringing his children to watch the match.

Gunther said, “That’s what you want? Using your children as bait to get a little spotlight?” This was directed towards Gable, parading his children around the ring during their last match, which Gable could not win. When the match ended, Gable’s daughter was seen crying. For Gunther, this was the last straw in their feud.

Without giving Gable a chance to retort, Gunther continued, “You’re a fantastic athlete, but you’re a disgusting, terrible father.” This line broke Gable, who responded by attacking Gunther. Unfortunately, with the odds being 3 to 1, Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci proceeded to beat down Gable. Thankfully, Otis and Tommaso Ciampa came to aid Gable and chased away the trio. This led to a six-man tag team match being set up.

The six-man tag team match and its result furthers the intriguing feud

The drama in the ring resulted in a match between the Imperium and The Alpha Academy with Tommaso Ciampa. The match was excellent, with some of the best wrestlers in the business putting their skills on the mat. The match ended with Gable making Giovanni submit while Ciampa held Gunther back from attacking. 

After losing the match, Gunther and his boys were backstage, where Gunther said, “Chad Gable put his family on the front lines to get some sympathy. And now Tommaso is there too. We have not seen the last of them.” The audience was excited to hear Ciampa’s name, as it could hint at a future feud. Fans are keen to know what matches could be on the cards with the upcoming PPV event Fastlane.
