The main event of NJPW Resurgence didn’t go the way for Mercedes Moné aka Sasha Banks, as she thought it would. She faced Willow Nightingale for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship at the PPV. However, ‘The CEO’ suffered a severe ankle injury while performing a move from the top of the ring post. The wrestling fans are worried about the former WWE superstar about her injury setback and will be out of action for a while.

The former IWGP Women’s Champion completed the match suffering the injury mid-match. Moreover, after the match, she needed assistance to go backstage. This is when the wrestling world got concerned about her injury.

Mercedes Mone was trending on social media, as she had an over-the-top match with Nightingale. Furthermore, even though she lost the match, fans appreciated her for her impressive performance. The match resulted in a gruesome injury as she suffered a broken ankle injury, as noted by PWInsider.

A few fans showed concern over Mone’s injury.

The fall from the ring post indeed seemed to be “nasty”.

She’ll miss Forbidden Door PPV.

Further updates about the injury are yet to be made public. Moreover, it is unclear how much time Banks will be out of action as of this article is written.  All signs indicate that the former WWE star will miss considerable time for recovery, as she couldn’t walk properly after the match.

Shortly after medical attention, Mone took to Twitter to address the fans about the injury.

Banks tweeted, “WRESTLING!!!!Phew 😮‍💨 not how I dreamed for tonight to go.I’m so sorry and I love you guys so much.I’m gonna heal and be back better than ever.Moné💙@njpwglobal”

Before she suffered an injury, Mone, and Nightingale gave everything to make the main event outstanding. Surprisingly, some fans expressed their desire through tweets abou wanting to see Mone vs Nightingale once again when she returns to in-ring action.

The AEWxNJPW combine PPV Forbidden Door was around the corner and many hoped Mone to show up there. There were even rumors of her joining Tony Khan’s promotion after losing the IWGP Women’s Title.
