Another PLE, and another missed opportunity. The recently concluded SummerSlam at Ford Field in Detroit could have been an ideal ground for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s return. But as usual, it didn’t happen. Needless to say, this will upset many of his admirers, who have been waiting patiently for The Great One to finally show up. But PLEs come and go, and Johnson remains absent. On the other hand, the WWE just hinted at a possible return for the icon during the main event match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.

The bout, which featured the two warring cousins, fittingly paid tribute to their fellow Anoa’i member. Now you might wonder how? So, let’s find out.

The final match at the Motor City event saw Reigns take on Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat stipulation match. A lot was on the line. Not just Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, but also his position as The Tribal Chief was up for grabs.

But a turn of events ensued and a deja vu moment for the WWE Universe, Jimmy Uso– who was absent from WWE shows for weeks after being attacked by The Big Dog and Solo Sikoa– returned. But instead of helping his twin, Jey, he teamed up with Reigns in a brutal betrayal. There’s something about the SummerSlam and twins betraying one another. At SummerSlam 2014, Nikki Bella turned on her twin Brie to cost her the bout against Stephanie McMahon.

Jimmy’s betrayal brought back memories from nine years ago. Reigns, on the other hand, kept his singles winning streak intact. During the course of this match, commentator Corey Graves said that the six-time world champion was reminding Jey Uso that the latter’s hands were not big enough to box with God.

This was a reference to Johnson. In the 2013 Royal Rumble, CM Punk, the then WWE Champion, feuded with The Brahma Bull. Three weeks before the match, Punk cut a brutal promo on The Rock. While he picked on all the peculiarities and signatures that were synonymous with the WWE legend, the Second City Saint ended with “Come Royal Rumble understand that when you step in the ring, your arms are just too short to box with God.

By delivering the line, did the company hit that there’s still hope for Johnson to return? On the other hand, how does Jimmy Uso’s betrayal further The Bloodline’s storyline?

How could the storyline between the brothers play out after SummerSlam?

Roman Reigns’ feud with Jey Uso is done for now. Like it or not, Reigns won the match and retained his title .. If anything at all, Jey can complain about Jimmy playing the party pooper.

Where does this leave the brothers now? Well, they had hinted about it a few weeks ago. While talking to a journalist before the Money In The Bank PLE, which they won against Reigns and Sikoa, Jimmy and Jey revealed their future plans.

The brothers are open to feuding with one another. They even spoke about a bout at WrestleMania, with one of their family members, possibly their father and WWE legend Rikishi, taking up the role of the referee.

With eight months left for WrestleMania 40, the storyline in The Bloodline could focus more on Jey and Jimmy’s enmity, setting up a clash in Philadelphia, the host of the next Mania.

But this is just a possible scenario. In order to see what unfolds next, fans will have to wait for the future. Some of them will also hope that this can lead to Johnson’s involvement in some way, maybe as a peace negotiator, given his clout among the company and the family.
