On an exciting night of WWE RAW in Anaheim, California, an unexpected event took place. Samantha Irving introduced UFC lightweight fighter Michael Chandler. Chandler, taking the microphone, proclaimed his status as “the most entertaining UFC fighter on the planet.” With the WrestleMania 40 sign in the background, he openly challenged the renowned Conor McGregor.

Tension between Chandler and McGregor has been on the rise, as neither has competed recently. Chandler hasn’t seen action since their UFC 281 showdown in 2022. On the other hand, McGregor has not fought since 2021, due to a leg injury sustained in a fight against Dustin Poirier. Despite Dana White’s expectations of seeing McGregor at UFC 300, his return has been delayed until the fall. So could we see the Notorious be a part of the WWE? Back in 2016, the UFC veteran decided to attack the WWE’s greatest exponent, the American wrestler and the then-main face of the company, John Cena. McGregor, who had already boasted of being able to beat any of WWE’s superstars, decided to return to the fray at a publicity event in Las Vegas to promote the mixed martial arts event UFC 202 and his fight against American UFC veteran Nate Diaz. During the event, the Irish warrior called Cena a “Big Fat 40-Year-Old Failed Mr. Olympian Motherf**ker. Do you know what I mean? They’re dweebs those guys.” This attack came just a week after he called WWE pros “fa**ots.”

On the contrary, John Cena called McGregor a ‘great fit’ for the WWE in 2021. During his appearance on the ‘That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast’, he said, “He’d be fantastic. He is what we do. What he does is a little less predictable. Our surprises are getting people to show up at random, and trying to weave the choose-your-own-adventure to a different alley. With Conor McGregor’s aforementioned controversial statements and homophobic slurs about the WWE, the company’s former Undisputed Champion Brock Lesnar took the opportunity to respond to the UFC fighter at an event promoting WWE 2K17. During an interview with Sam Roberts in the promotional event, Lesnar roasted McGregor as he was asked about fighting the Irish warrior.

If Conor McGregor wants to say some sh*t to me and get his name out there more than he already has, by dropping my name, I got about ten f**king words for him.”

The beast further challenged McGregor to come and face him inside the ring. He said, “Come here, face-to-face, Conor, and say it to my face. Otherwise leave me and the f**king WWE out of it, because I came to your arena and kicked a*s. Now, if you want, and if you’re so f**king tough, come to our arena and try and kick some a*s.” While Conor McGregor did not accept the challenge back then, can we see him visit the WWE now?
