This year, NASCAR is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a racing series. In the buildup to the 2023 season, NASCAR President Steve Phelps paid a visit to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). However, he was not alone, as Jeff Gordon, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and Daniel Suarez also joined him in the Big Apple. The occasion was for them to be present to witness the ringing of the Closing Bell at 4 PM local time.

It is worth mentioning that the NYSE Bell is reserved for listed companies to use. Furthermore, it is not available for private companies or for personal use. Interestingly, the NYSE allows deserving non-profit organizations opportunities to extend a Bell ringing opportunity. Naturally, there were several people who reacted to scenes of the NASCAR contingent at the New York Stock Exchange.

Truthfully speaking, the reactions were fairly mixed, with several people who were thrilled that this was happening. On the other end of the scale, there were people who were not too enthusiastic. Furthermore, there were also some who joked about the situation and a few observations were made. One person working in the sector said, “I work in the finance industry, and I’m a NASCAR fan…My worlds are colliding!!!”

Other positive responses read, “That crew is having a great time in the Big Apple I’m sure!” Another NASCAR fan even said, “My work and my favorite sport come together.” A few jokers decided to up their pun game by saying, “This is the only way they can be back to being a ‘Stock’ car.” Some people even said, “They should have just invited Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain and made ‘em hug.”

Finally, some fans observed that there were notable absences. One asked, “Where is Joey?” and another said, “No Toyota drivers lol.” Others snarkily noted, “I see a Hendrick driver had to be there oh wait they own NASCAR.” Finally, one said, “since it’s all about corporate greed any more… you two go right together…SMH.”
