“Ain’t Holding Back”: Nick Kyrgios Yet Again Rejects Novak Djokovic from the GOAT List

If there’s one pair that doesn’t get along well in tennis, it is definitely that of Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios. The two don’t talk much on and off the field, and Kyrgios loves to get involved in banter related to the World No. 1 player.
Recently, when Djokovic presented a list of suggestions to the CEO of Tennis Australia, Kyrgios called him a ‘tool’. Now, he’s put something on his Instagram story that has certainly caught the attention of fans.
In the past, Kyrgios has refused to accept Djokovic as the greatest player ever in the sport. The Australian player recently said that he wasn’t holding back from that remark.

“I ain’t holding back,” wrote Kyrgios on Instagram.
It is quite clear that Kyrgios is still standing firm on his stance about Djokovic. He certainly believes that whatever he said earlier about Djoker earlier holds relevance even today.
What remark did Nick Kyrgios make about Novak Djokovic earlier?
Kyrgios’ past comment on Djokovic was something that he made based on numbers and stats. He highlighted that the Serbian was not the best player for him since he hadn’t defeated Nick.
“No matter how many grand slams he wins, like, he will never be the greatest to me, simply because I’ve played him twice and, I’m sorry, but if you can’t beat me you’re not the greatest of all-time,” said Kyrgios in an earlier interview.

The two players have met on two occasions so far, with Kyrgios winning on both occasions. Both meetings came in 2017, one at the Indian Wells Masters and the other at the ATP Acapulco Open. What was even more humiliating for Djokovic was that he lost in straight sets both times.
Kyrgios certainly has his reasons to not accept Djokovic as one of the best players. However, these stats are about three years old now. Fans will definitely wish to watch some more of Kyrgios-Djokovic encounters in the near future. Who knows, they might get to face each other at the upcoming Australian Open 2021 itself!
