Jannik Sinner has come to be known as one of the most promising young talents in the game. Since turning pro in 2018, the Italian already has 5 titles, along with the ATP NextGen Finals 2019 to his name.

Sinner has been under the tutelage of Italian star coach Riccardo Piatti since he was 13. However, things don’t seem to be going in the right direction as the World No. 10 is reportedly looking to part ways with Piatti soon.
Since the news of their separation has taken over the media, several speculations have taken birth. The latest in line is that the former World No. 1, Boris Becker, will take over as Piatti’s successor.
Boris Becker could join Sinner’s team
Speculating about Sinner’s new coach, Gazzetta dello Sport bought the German Boris Becker’s name into the picture. The final call, however, is expected to be made soon by the 20-year-old.

Boris Becker, a former World No. 1 and 6-time Grand Slam champion himself, has previously coached the current World No. 1 Novak Djokovic for 3 years. The two parted ways in 2016.

Riccardo Piatti, on the other hand, has trained some other top players like Richard Gasquet and Milos Raonic, and Ivan Ljubicic. However, what comes in common between the 2 coaches is Novak Djokovic. Piatti has also trained Djokovic in the early days of his career. However, he parted ways with him before the Serb rose to fame.
Sinner, who pulled out of Rotterdam due to Covid-19, is preparing for his return at the ATP 500 Dubai. However, what remains to be answered is who will sit in the players’ box with the Italian prodigy. Sinner is expected to make the announcement in the coming days.

After ending his 2021 season with a round-robin loss in the Nitto ATP Finals, Sinner started the 2022 season with perfectly at the ATP Cup. The Italian won all three matches in straight sets.

He then entered the Australian Open as the 11th seed and won the initial rounds with ease. In the quarter-finals, he faced the 4th seeded Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek star breezed past Sinner in straight sets, and he’ll be hoping for better performances in Slams in the future.
