World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has been the most dominant player in the men’s game over the past decade. The manner in which he has played against his rivals Federer and Nadal has been exceptional.

Over recent tournaments, Djokovic has got the better of Rafa in some of the big matches at the biggest of events. Last season, he knocked out the Spaniard at the French Open. It was a rare sight and he is the only man to beat Nadal twice at Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic had only one intention in mind 

Recently, Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou spoke on the 2019 Australian Open final between Nadal and Djokovic. He remembered seeing the Serb walk down the tunnel and saw a killer instinct in his eyes and felt that there would only be one winner that day.

Speaking on this subject, Patrick stated, “I remember I don’t remember who I was with, but I turned to that guy and I said, Oh, my God is going to destroy Rafa, you could feel it. And this is here. Only here. nothing negative about Rafa who’s an incredible champion too. But just to say that that day, what Novak brought to the table mentally was just from another planet.”

Coming to tennis, Nadal and Djokovic have played some of the best matches on the Tour. They have played against each other 58 times. Over the years, since Novak has been the much more dominant player and leads the head-to-head in his favor with 30 wins as compared to Rafa’s 28 wins.

Rafa created history in Melbourne this season 

Reflecting on this season, Djokovic was unable to compete at the Australian Open this year due to not following certain protocols. On the other hand, Nadal came to the Australian Open after being on the sidelines for a considerable amount of time. He ended up winning the tournament and thus his 21st Grand Slam title.
