After moving away from competitive tennis, the 57-year-old has now taken up the role of a broadcaster and he is also covering the grass-court major event in London.

However, for the prestigious event, Patrick has got a special ‘late pass’ from his bosses as he recently celebrated his birthday in New York prior to the commencement of the Wimbledon Championships. Here’s how the former tennis player celebrated the special day with his wife in the most unexpected of ways as he had to send a 3-word message to his bosses.

John McEnroe’s brother talks about his special celebrations ahead of the Wimbledon Championships

The American tennis star recently checked in his podcast show, ‘Holding Court with Patrick McEnroe,’ before heading over the pond with ESPN for his broadcaster duties at the Wimbledon Championships. Meanwhile, Patrick McEnroe also revealed that he has got a late pass from his bosses as his trip to London was delayed due to his birthday celebration in New York.

He said, “I’m actually heading over (to Wimbledon) a little bit later than I normally do. Because I actually get to celebrate my birthday here in New York. It’s July 1 is my birthday, which is Saturday. So I’m going to be celebrating at home most of the day, then flying over Saturday night. We’ll get into London a little bit later than I normally do. But I got the late pass from my bosses at ESPN.”

Later, Patrick also revealed how he celebrated the special occasion with his wife while he also had to put on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode for his Wimebdon duties. He added, “Let me celebrate my birthday with my wife at home. For the first time, as she mentioned to me, probably since we’ve been married, that’s over 25. That’s 25 years. We’ve known each other a little longer than that. Let me put my Do Not Disturb on so you don’t get those beeps on my phone.”
