In what comes as extremely ironic news to what the management claimed a few days ago, another veteran looks to be on the move to the Los Angeles Lakers. On one hand, they claim to be trying to go younger in their roster. But on the other, several trusted sources claim that the Lakers are favorites to sign old veterans who are looking to get traded. Among them are Former Laker Guard, Rajon Rondo, and Brooklyn Nets center DeAndre Jordan.
Now, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report has tweeted that the Lakers are favorites to sign DeAndre Jordan, should he reach a contract buyout agreement.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, DeAndre Jordan and the Brooklyn Nets are working on a contract buyout agreement. Jordan is becoming less likely to remain a member of the organization in the future. However, neither party has made a definitive decision. Jordan did not play in the Nets’ final 16 games of the regular season or playoffs in 2020-21.
Considering that the contract buyout is imminent now, the Lakers look like the front runners to sign DeAndre Jordan. He is a 33-year-old center who has the best career field goal percentage in the league. However, his all-star days are way behind him. Albeit that can be attributed to the lack of minutes on the court. However, is his addition really going to help the Lakers?

DeAndre Jordan is a classic center who rebounds and converts second-chance points at an extremely efficient rate. However, his drawback is that he is not as athletic as many other centers in the league.
Moreover, the Lakers already have Marc Gasol and Dwight Howard in his position. Further, Anthony Davis can also play as a center. So, rationally, they don’t need DeAndre Jordan, especially considering his age. So, the roster isn’t getting any younger.

It may not appear to be ideal, and it may not be the winning formula. The Lakers appear to be betting big on the concept of winning another title with an aging roster. The average age of their players would rise from 31.2 to 31.6 years if Rondo and Jordan were to join the team.
