The outstanding Mikaela Shiffrin is one of the best skiers in the world. Claiming many gold medals in her career, she is once again the favorite to win at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. After winning the 2014 and 2018 Olympic gold medals, she hopes to make it a three-peat to solidify her position as the greatest. One person, who influenced her illustrious career is her father Jeff Shiffrin.

Moreover, this is the second year of her father’s death anniversary as she penned an emotional post on social media. Shiffrin took time to move on as she spoke in an interview recently.

Mikaela Shiffrin makes an emotional post

It is the second death anniversary of Shiffrin’s father as she made an emotional post on Instagram. Significantly, Shiffrin took over to skate in the mountains, helping her perfect her craft. But, due to accidental death, Jeff passed away, and this was a tough moment for Shiffrin. It’s been two years since he passed away and Shiffrin penned some memorable words for her father on Instagram.

“So much to say and nothing to say at all. It can’t be two years. Just can’t be. Just miss you with all of my mangled little heart. Just wish you could come back home. Just… love you most.”

Her father’s isupport helped her win two Olympic gold medals and perform remarkably well. Being a positive influence in her skiing career, Shiffrin took some time to get over her father’s untimely demise.

If someone loses an important member of their family, it takes time for people to accept the reality. Likewise, Shiffrin spoke about taking some time off to process herself for the sudden passing away of her father. Moreover, it is hard for people as she talked about the grieving process.

“It’s taken so long just to get to this point. I’m not even close to being done grieving, but every day I feel that spark and motivation returning. It’s like healing from an injury. You get to the point where you can race again, but it still hurts sometimes,” said Shiffrin.

As the Winter Olympics is just days away, Shiffrin would hope to regain her focus and win her third Olympic gold medal. A bubbling personality and charismatic character of the sport, she is already an icon of skiing. Winning the next medal would be a beautiful dedication for her father. Hence, can she win again?
