As per floating rumors, for the role of ‘Max Cady,’ Robert De Niro was at a shocking four percent body fat. Achieving or maintaining such a low body fat percentage is incredibly difficult for even professional bodybuilders. In a YouTube video that reported his diet and training, the narrator claimed that De Niro was on a high-carb diet, but relied on a lot of physical movements. He was training for 3 hours every day and did a whopping 600 crunches every day.

The video stated, “Robert De Niro got in crazy shape for ‘Cape Fear’ apparently reaching 4 percent body fat. He trained 3 hours a day, six days a week with endless reps of body weight exercises like dips, chin-ups, push-ups, and 600 crunches a day! And De Niro’s diet was high-carb.”

How did the fans react to this?

One of the users commented on the video by writing, “Not 4% but he walked out of the prison cell he was peek!!,” while another user pointed out, “He looks more like 10%, whenever celebrities say “I train 3 hours a day” it’s normally just code for I took PEDs, no one exercising seriously is in the gym for 3 hours.”

Another person expressed his disbelief over the situation as he did not believe it to be true. The comment read, “No way its 4%.” Discussing about the truth behind this, a user stated, “De Niro is what is known as a method actor and any and every roll he took, filming his part does not start until he becomes that character.” However, disagreeing to this comment, another person said, “Well yeah, he’s a method actor, but their methods are complete lies. He is no where near 4% that’s IFBB pro level.”
