The craze around Mr. Olympia cannot be measured. However, bodybuilding’s prestigious event for 2023 has concluded in a thrilling way and left controversy behind. Nonetheless, the new champion in the Open Division is speaking about the experience he had and the new trophy he earned upon winning.

In the recent episode of Hany Rambod’s post cast, titled, “Winning the Olympia, New Gym, & Dad Bods Derek Lunsford Reveals The Truth”, the Pro Creator and the coveted title holder discussed the jaw-dropping event. Interestingly, the coach also disclosed a fact about the seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath.

Rambod revealed that Heath has three different Olympia trophies

At the beginning of the video, Derek Lunsford described his trophy’s weight and compared it with the bodybuilding GOAT Ronnie Coleman’s Sandow trophy. He stated that his trophy size is a third of the size of his own. Rambod asked him if he had seen Phil Heath’s statue.

Then, Rambod disclosed, “Phil has three different Sandows. he has the old version that Ronnie has he has the new version that you have and then he has the golden 50th Anniversary golden version.” He described that the golden trophy Heath has is made entirely of precious metal, which is exceptionally impressive. Rambod expressed his admiration for the distinct nature of Olympia’s 50th anniversary trophy.

As Rambod mentioned only the Dream Killer has a different type of Sandow trophy, let’s find out when he won these trophies and what is the difference between all of them. The former basketball player’s journey in bodybuilding is nothing short of fascinating. His path to success in competitive bodybuilding began in 2003. Despite the initial struggles, he earned his Pro Card. In 2008, he debuted at the Olympia and immediately captured attention by finishing in third place.

The Glorious Journey of Heath

It was a historic moment because he became the second athlete after Flex Wheeler who placed third in his debut. Dexter Jackson won the show that year and in 2010 Heath placed second to Jay Culter, and following the year he won his first-ever Olympia title. 2011 began a glorious time for the athlete when he dethroned the reigning champ Jay Cutler and earned his seven coveted titles consecutively. During his first win, he won the same trophy as Coleman, the heavy metal Sandow.

In his first two competitions, Heath confidently won without hesitation. However, while preparing for the third show, he showed signs of nervousness not because of the challenging competitors but because of the documentary movie “Generation Iron.” The movie was released before his third appearance on the stage and he wondered about people getting confused because the documentary was based on the 2012 competition and not the 2013 one.

Phil Heath’s  Golden Sandow Trophy

In 2014, Phil Heath won his fourth Mr. Olympia title, and it was special because it was the 50th anniversary of the Olympia. He got an extraordinary gold Sandow trophy. Mr. Olympia’s Facebook page reshared a post by Heath, where he mentioned, “I rarely show off the trophies but this one had to get some love. 50th anniversary Gold Olympia Sandow! Every Sandow has its own story and this one definitely had his as it was an incredible story.”

Heath’s first trophy was in silver, after its 50th anniversary, they changed the design and the metal which increased its weight. According to Lunsford, its weight was approximately 50 lbs. However, the latest trophy has a more shredded and heavy appearance with an iconic barbell attached, reflecting a bronze color.

Heath’s life after retiring from Olympia

Heath accomplished a remarkable feat in his career by winning his last title in 2017. Unfortunately, he had been diagnosed with a double hernia, which operated on within a week after he won the Sandow trophy in 2017. However, in 2018, he couldn’t defend his title for the eighth time due to his surgery and lost to the late Shawn Rhoden.

To recover from that surgery he went for different workout routines. It includes pilates, an exercise popular among Hollywood stars. Regardless of his retirement from the competitive arena, the entrepreneur has never left the spirit of the sport. The former bodybuilder frequently shares glimpses of his workout routine through social media.

Even in his 40s, the bodybuilding veteran continues to live up to his name.
