Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one of the highest earners in the history of sports. Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Mayweather made more money in a single night than Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry made in 5 years.

Curry signed a 5-year contract with Golden State Warriors in the year 2017. Moreover, it is reported that the star earned USD 201,158,790 as a part of the contract. In fact, this translates to USD 40,231,758 a year.

However, Mayweather’s earnings literally threw the entire equation outside the window. Mayweather faced UFC superstar Conor McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada in August 2017. He was guaranteed a purse of USD 100 million for the bout. A sizeable amount for most people, but not for ‘Money’ Mayweather.

In fact, Mayweather sold the fight so well to earn himself, the biggest single payday in the history of sports, a whopping USD 275 million.

‘TBE’ faced Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada in May 2015. It was reported that Pacquiao earned USD 120 million for the bout while Mayweather took home USD 180 million.

Similarly, Canelo Alvarez also had a showdown with the champ at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in September 2013. Alvarez was guaranteed a USD 5 million purse, but it was reported that he walked away with close to USD 12 million.

Meanwhile, Mayweather was promised a purse of USD 40 million. But it is said that the champ’s earnings from the fight crossed USD 100 million.
