In high-profile bouts, purse splits, promotional rivalries, and many other contractual negotiations can impede fights. Similarly, Canelo Alvarez was no short of opponents but his former promoter, Eddie Hearn, has revealed that he failed to make Saul an offer. Subsequently, Alvarez, 32, did not intend to squander his prime years and signed a 3-fight deal with Al Haymon‘s, Premier Boxing Champions.

Alvarez is booked to face the undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo, in September. Although Alvarez is the betting favorite going into the bout, Charlo, in no circumstances, can be underestimated. Corollary to the same, Alvarez was seen training in a viral clip as he gears up to take on Charlo.

In a recent Instagram story reposted by Alvarez, @caneloteam shared a clip of Alvarez hitting the wrecking ball bag to train his uppercuts. Alvarez has vicious and ferocious uppercuts which he uses to his advantage while fighting on the inside. The most notable uppercut punch of his was against Billy Joe Saunders in the eighth round of their contest. The uppercut injured Saunders’s eye which not only determined the fight but also forced Saunders to retire. Seemingly, Alvarez is working on sharpening one of the best tools in his arsenal ahead of his next fight.

David Benavidez makes a shocking prediction for Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo

David Benavidez is the interim super middleweight champion. After his recent win against Caleb Plant, many considered him to be the mandatory fight for Alvarez. However, it appears Benavidez would have to wait in line for longer. Moreover, Benavidez continues to keep an eye out for Alvarez and revealed his prediction for Alvarez vs Charlo. Though he considers the bout to be competitive, he favours Alvarez and reasons his stance. He stated, “I think so. it’s just him (Canelo) being more active. Two years is a long time. He’s gonna come back, ring rust, he’s not taking no tune-up fight.”
