Former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, doesn’t mind seeing his ex-nemesis Dillian Whyte get a crack at Tyson Fury for the WBC title. Although fans had pitched Joshua vs Fury as the perfect All-English heavyweight bout of ages, the current scenario has put Joshua in a back seat, with Dillian Whyte initiating his mandatory spot for the world championship.

AJ had knocked out Whyte back in 2015, handing ‘The Body Snatcher’ the first loss of his pro career. That said, the existing numbers cite Whyte to be in a better position than Anthony Joshua. 28-2 as a professional, Dillian Whyte looks superior to Anthony Joshua’s 24-2 record at this point. Well, AJ and Usyk can re-match once again if both men become world champions in their next respective fights.

Whyte will face Tyson Fury for the WBC belt and AJ looks viable to rematch Usyk for his lost WBA, WBO, and IBF straps. Meanwhile, AJ has shown love towards Dillian Whyte, as we are about to witness some massive fights in the heavyweight division.

Per Michael Benson, AJ reacted to Whyte vs Fury and said, “Even though Dillian Whyte is an enemy of mine, I’m low key happy for him.”

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2 is still not official. After taking a lopsided beat down from Usyk in September 2021, AJ hasn’t interacted with the media a lot. However, he has vowed to offer his violet side instead of trying to box Usyk, whenever they re-collide.

Moreover, the heavyweight division has seen some clarity after Queensberry promotions confirmed Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte. Thus, Anthony Joshua should also announce his next move, to keep the title race in motion.

Anthony Joshua is hoping to revive his name

Once an undefeated world champion, AJ suffered a huge setback when he lost to Usyk in his hometown, London. It has made Joshua look vulnerable in the ring, as he no longer has the invincible status to his favor. Only an immediate resurrection can bring him back to glory. But unless he does so, Joshua will remain sidelined in a division that is going through so much recently.

Besides, Oleksandr Usyk took apart AJ for all 12 rounds in their original clash, which differed greatly from what Andy Ruiz Jr. did to Joshua in 2019. Usyk exposed Joshua’s boxing flaws. It’s hard to picture Joshua offering something different in his net appearance. But AJ is still a top-tier persona and has his fair chance to resurrect his position. Thus, Usyk vs Joshua 2 can differ from what we saw in the first fight.
