While most of the boxing world is currently bashing Deontay Wilder for losing the WBC title to Tyson Fury, veteran pugilist Bernard Hopkins harbors love and respect for the American knockout artist.
He considers Deontay Wilder to be a relevant name in the heavyweight picture and advises him to regain the top spot by being active.
Following his maiden professional defeat, Wilder hasn’t accepted a fight and is nowhere close to bagging an immediate return. Instead, he has ridiculed his loss with several justifications that haven’t been received well by the fans.

So, Hopkins dove into the mix to share some valuable insight into the situation. According to Hopkins, if one can not back up their words with actions, it turns them into a ‘sore loser’. That said, he has advised Deontay Wilder to return soon.
Speaking with Fight Hub TV, ‘The Alien’ said, “But now when you start saying things that you can’t prove. See that’s the key, when you say things and you are saying things that you can’t prove, you become now a sore loser.”
Hopkins has also poured his love for Wilder and added, “I mean my whole thing is (Wilder) got a lot of talent left. I still believe in him, the landscape out today.
“He can be the heavyweight champion of the world again if he really choose to be that and not contained on being who he became and the money he has made so far. Now he got to start building a legacy.”
Deontay Wilder- Where does he stand now?
As per the ongoing heavyweight talks, Tyson Fury will fight Anthony Joshua to unify all the world titles. So, it puts Wilder out of the radar. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ can still opt for a top-rated non-title fight to regain his relevancy in the sport.
