The Boxing world is eager for the return of ‘The Mexican Monster’. Since his unanimous decision victory over Caleb Plant, David Benavidez is yet to return to the boxing ring. And, even though the fans’ spirits were running high when he sent a $50 million offer to Canelo Alvarez, those negotiations did not prove to be fruitful. But it seems like there is no shortage of fighters for the three-time champion to fight. And is rumored to step into the ring against David Morrell Jr. Even though the fight was reportedly finalized between the two, it seems like Benavidez has a different story to tell.

Morrell Jr. slammed the Benavidez family after the 26-year-old claimed that a fight between the two was not yet finalized. And, to take things to a different level, he reeled in Jose Benavidez Sr. and Jose Benavidez Jr. to make things personal between the two.

David Morell believes that the Benavidezs are “cowards”

The Cuban professional boxer released an official statement taking shots at the Benavidez family after ‘The Mexican Monster’ claimed that a fight between the two is not finalized. Morell Jr. reminded Benavidez of his past and slammed his father and brother. The statement was shared on Twitter, by Michael Benson from talkSPORT.

In the statement, Morrell Jr. wrote: “David Benavidez is a big bitch.” Taking a shot at Benavidez Sr, he added that he is a “fraud” and a “small man with little man complex.” Moreover, he charged toward Jose Benavidez Jr. as he trolled his performance in Creed III and for his loss to Terence Crawford. Morell did make it clear with this message that he is not pleased with Benavidez claiming the fight is not yet finalized.

Furthermore, Continuing his attack on the 26-year-old, he said, “He’s a fraud. This is the guy everyone is building up. I see a fat insecure boy. That’s what I see.” The Cuban, moreover, explicitly called Benavidez a “duck.” Any official announcement about the fight between the two is yet to be made. And it is safe to say that this jab from Morrell Jr. has only added to the hype of the fight.

Jose Benavidez Sr. doesn’t want Benavidez to fight Morrell

Even though Benavidez and Morrell’s matchup has garnered attention from the fans, it seems like Benavidez Sr. does not consider the Cuban a worthy opponent for his son. In an interview with Millcity Boxing, Benavidez Sr. expressed that he believes Morrell is inexperienced to face someone like Benavidez. He said, “David Morrell is not there yet.” He added, “In those two or three more fights, he’s going to get more dangerous also, but we’ll take him right now, no problem.”
