It’s not long now until Caleb Plant and Jose Armando Resendiz meet in the ring on May 31 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. The 23-2 is coming off an 8-month away from the ring since he secured the ninth-round TKO win over Trevor McCumby in Las Vegas last year. This will mark his second title defense for the WBA interim super middleweight belt, a status the 32-year-old received after dethroning David Benavidez in 2023. But as May 31st is just around the corner, things are getting heated up!

Now, neither of the boxers has a personal feud or rivalry, but both Plant and the Mexican native have expressed their confidence in taking the other down. It’s only a while until fans get to know who. As for the back-and-forth professional exchanges between the two, Plant recently dropped a three-word response summing up his fight-night performance.

Just hours ago, the Ring Magazine shared a post on their Instagram where it was evident that Plant has practically studied every possibility. Just like Dr. Strange did when he was about to lend the Time Stone over to Thanos, the boxer won’t be surprised by any of his opponent’s moves. “No stone unturned,” he said.

In such a short statement, the Nashville native was trying to convey how prepared he was for the upcoming bout. “Caleb Plant ripped and ready for his return against Armando Resendiz this weekend 😤,” the caption of the post read, echoing the boxer’s motivation.

Sharing this on his handle, with Locked In by Innovators Beats in the background, Plant is just trying to play it calm and cool. The ghost stepper has even invested in his latest custom boxing boots inspired by Jordan’s. So, it looks like he’s got everything planned out. From watching Resendiz’s fights, and training hard in the camp, to external factors like his boxing gear. And if he’s serious, Resendiz is not moving out of the ring elated. And to be honest, he admitted it himself. But the 26-year-old has made it clear that he won’t be stepping onto the canvas to lose.

Caleb Plant won’t get a leisurely victory

In the press conference two weeks ago, Resendiz acknowledged the task he’s been put up against. But on the brighter side of it, he sees it as a great opportunity to boost his career. I’m going to lean on the work that I’ve been doing so far, and you’re going to see my best out there. I’m not a talker—I’m a doer. I’m going to talk with my fists…it’s going to mark a new chapter, a new beginning in my career. It’s going to be great—you’ll see,” the 15-2 boxer stated assuringly.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Caleb Plant's experience outshine Resendiz's hunger for victory, or will the underdog surprise us all?

Have an interesting take?

Then he’d also revealed why a win matters so much to him. He is hungry to take Plant down, and there is a strong survival reason behind it. It’s going to be huge for me because this isn’t just for me. It’s my wife’s future on the line, it’s my kids’ future on the line—my entire family is counting on me. I can’t let them down,” he said. It’s going to be fireworks out there, and I’m not about to let this opportunity pass me by, the young boxer continued.

So it’s pretty clear that Resendiz is not going to be there for the sake of it. He’s not going to be just another name on Plant’s resume. And he’s surely not come this far without any struggle whatsoever. Winning is the only way the Mexican can prove that he belongs with the best. But then Plant has fought elite competition like Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez. So he’s going to be no small feat with all that experience. Ultimately, it’s just the clock ticking, and fans would know who wins once the fight is done. Who are you rooting for? The former IBF super middleweight champ? Or the underdog Resendiz?
