Jake Paul has been calling out Canelo Alvarez for some time. In fact, Paul argued that he would give Alvarez “a serious run for money“. On the other hand, while Canelo Alvarez did not directly accept Paul’s challenge, the Mexican boxer kept the prospect of a fight alive. Having praised Paul’s contribution to the sport, Alvarez said he would consider fighting Paul after he has retired professionally.
As per the latest updates, Alvarez will return against an American boxer during the Cinco de Mayo weekend this year. At this, while Canelo fans expect yet another blockbuster from the Mexican phenom, Paul claimed Alvarez was close to retiring. Therefore, the YouTuber-turned-boxer-turned-promoter hoped to face Alvarez soon in the ring.

Ahead of Jake Paul’s return against Ryan Bourland on March 2nd, Boxing Social interviewed ‘The Problem Child’. Paul, who is returning on the undercard of Amanda Serrano, looked vibrant and happy. However, on being asked if Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake would be the biggest event in the sport, ‘The Problem Child’ answered in the negative. But, Paul told Boxing Social, “It’s gotta be top five.” Along these lines, Paul claimed that Alvarez, who is only 33, is on his way to hanging his gloves. As a result, he thought Paul vs. Alvarez made perfect sense.

“I think it will happen at some point. I’ve been talking about that for a couple of years now. Canelo has brought it up. So, it makes sense,” said Jake Paul. “He’s coming to the end of his career where he’s gonna want to make a lot of money. He left PBC,” Paul added, reminding the media that Canelo parted ways with the PBC, having fought only once under the banner after signing a three-fight deal.
“So Canelo, once again, I wanna fight you, brother. Let’s make it happen. You can run, but you can’t hide,” concluded Jake. In this context, it is worth exploring what Alvarez had actually said regarding a potential match against Paul.

Canelo said he was above Paul in boxing
Although Canelo Alvarez had said he would fight Jake Paul after retirement from professional boxing, the Mexican boxer reminded the people that he was on “another level“. But, he assured the boxing community of facing Paul later. “For me, not right now because I’m chasing other things in my career but you never know, maybe later,” Alvarez had added.
