Canelo Alvarez, after splitting ways with Golden Boy Promotions, has worked as a free agent with several other promotions including Matchroom and PBC. Having amassed all four major world titles at 168 lbs, Alvarez is at a very interesting turn in his career. The 31-year-old has the possibility of entering several weight classes ahead, and he is yet to announce his next move officially.

That said, various promoters are already offering him the best they can. PBC has put on a deal for him to face WBC middleweight champion, Jermall Charlo. Moreover, Eddie Hearn has put on Gennady Golovkin and Dmitry Bivol before the ‘P4P King’. Furthermore, Don King also wants to work with Canelo Alvarez.

In an exclusive chat with FightHub, Don King pressed his chances of working with Eddy Reynoso and Canelo Alvarez. According to King, Canelo Alvarez needs him and he needs the Mexican pound-for-pound phenomenon simultaneously. That said, the promoter advised Alvarez regarding his next move and seemingly invited him to join hands.

Don King added, “You know, win, lose or draw. We got to be able to demonstrate the type of integrity, the type of responsibility, the type of loyalty, and keeping your word. A man is only as good as the word.”

“So, I don’t care if you got a trillion-dollar and you are a liar and you are unreliable. You are just a lying trillion-dollar MF, my friend.”

Who Was Canelo Alvarez’s Last Fight in 2021?

Don King promoted WBC cruiserweight champion, Ilunga Makabu, in his recent successful title defense. After that, King and Makabu aimed towards a potential clash with Canelo Alvarez. Thus, we can see King and Alvarez come aligned in the future.

Despite residing in the super middleweight division, Alvarez can directly influence the title rides of other weight categories. He was rumored to move up to 200 lbs and challenge Makabu with the dream of becoming a five-weight champion. However, Alvarez appears to have postponed the plan. He can fetch several top-tier matchups in the lower-weight classes.

Besides, he had a busy 2021 with three successful title fights on board. Therefore, Alvarez can take time to craft the comeback plans. On returning to action, he won’t have a deficit in finding viable names. Thus, it seems all good for the P4P king, at least for now.
