After a prolonged period of inactivity, the pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez is ready to wrangle. However, it is uncertain yet to whom the Mexican star will meet head-on in the ring in 2022.

Notably, In 2021 five-weight division champ stepped inside the ring three times. He stayed busy. Beginning with Avni Yildirim in February, he ended his historic campaign by decimating Caleb Plant.

Recently, the rumors reached such an extent that the five-weight division champ himself took to Twitter. Warning a boxing insider, Mike Coppinger, The Mexican wrote, “I don’t even agree I’m still negotiating don’t lie to people the day everything is signed that day I’ll let them know for now there’s nothing concrete.”

Meanwhile, Canelo is negotiating. Therefore, as per his probable opponents, reporters are coming up with different angles.
Canelo Alvarez’s probable opponents
Earlier, WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu was the most authentic opponent of Canelo. They even met at the media event and shared their photos. However, months have gone by and there is no update regarding their probable clash.
However, the IBF and IBO middleweight titleholder, Gennady Golovkin is most likely to lock horns by the end of this year. GGG is keen to take a shot. But Canelo has still not made any statement. The 39-year-old had fought two battles earlier in the years 2017 and 2018. Both were the most spectacular showdowns which enchanted the immense crowd.
The WBC middleweight Jermall Charlo is also on the list of the probable opponents. Though, he was arrested in Texas on a felony assault charge. However, several times in the past, his name was speculated to be the next opponent for Canelo Alvarez.
Recently, added names on the list of probable opponents are Russian pugilist, Dmitry Bivol, and two-time super middleweight champion, David Benavidez. He is the same fighter, Floyd Mayweather has accused Canelo of ducking.
Nevertheless, the final decision remains in the hands of Canelo Alvarez at this juncture. The moment Alvarez strikes a cracking deal of his liking, he will confirm it to his fans.
