Canelo Alvarez is expected to fight three times in 2022. The p4p king already witnessed a cracking run last year, wherein he traced his way to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion. Since then, he raised his stakes in the boxing world and everyone is keen to see him perform again.

A few weeks back, Canelo was expected to get aligned with Jermall Charlo for a 12-round bout. This was an exuberant matchup that divided the fan into two groups.

Recently, David Benavidez too spoke about the Canelo vs Charlo fight and revealed who he sees winning.

Speaking with ES News, he said, “I think Charlo gets knocked out honestly.”

“It could be a great fight but honestly, I mean, Charlo is not, he’s not a bad fighter, he’s a really good fighter, you know he’s a world champion, champion for a reason, he’s undefeated for a reason. I feel like, when the stage goes hard for him, he gets better. But I don’t know, we’ll see.”

A fight between Canelo and Charlo was being targeted for Cinco de Mayo weekend. But it seems the talks didn’t reach a positive conclusion because Canelo inked a deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom.

Per this deal, Canelo Alvarez will have two fights under the belt, starting with Dmitry Bivol on May 7. Furthermore, he might confront Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy in September. Citing this, it seems Alvarez has a busy fight plan for 2022 as well.
