Billy Joe Saunders announced his return to the boxing ring. The former middleweight and super-middleweight champion last fought against Canelo Alvarez in May 2021. The fight was competitive while it lasted but in the eighth round, Saunders took a lopping uppercut from the Mexcian boxer. The uppercut landed below his eye which fractured his orbital bone and the contest was waived off after eight rounds. Saunders was handed his first-ever defeat and to an extent, one can say the defeat was career-ending as the injury forced him to retire.
However, in November of last year, word was spread in the boxing world that Saunders may make a return to the ring. And recently, it is reported that the 33-year-old himself has made it official that he will come out of retirement and the boxing world shared their opinions on Twitter.
