Speaking to Behind the Gloves, he said, “If you ask me if I fight with Canelo, then I say 50-50. Okay no, 49 Canelo, 51 me.”

The IBF champ was later inclined towards his chances of beating Canelo.

In his last outing, Alvarez locked horns with Caleb Plant for all the super-middleweight titles. This was an important fight, as the winner would have cemented his legacy as the maiden 168-pound champion. Also, with a fight of this magnitude, Canelo was an undeniable favorite.

Putting on a beating on Plant, Alvarez created history. Post that win, he was trending on the internet for his cruiserweight move. Canelo was even on the line to face the WBC cruiserweight champion, Ilunga Makabu. But, earlier this week, Eddie Hearn asserted about this fight not happening anytime soon.

With this, Canelo’s move up to his biggest weight class seems under dark clouds. Furthermore, cruiserweight champions like Briedis who had aspirations to fight the p4p king might not get his dream fight with him ahead.

Who will Canelo Alvarez face on his return to the ring?

Canelo Alvarez is rumored to take on his old rival, Jermall Charlo. The rivalry between the two men has been going on for years.
